Treasurehouse of Heathen Goods
Heathenism is a treasure trove of wonderful things, from Runes and myths to arcane lore. There are many good things for us. While they are purely Heathen, we do not have to hold them as some exclusive horde that is forbidden to outsiders. We can share our treasure with others. In this, our good things are like a Ken Rune in action. They are a beacon steadier than any lighthouse. This light shows people the way to Heathenism. It brings the people who belong here. Without making our treasure known, we might remain hidden from the very people who belong with us.
Nobody can withhold the secrets that are worth having. The true secrets will be revealed regardless of anyone’s attempt to hide them. Our Runes and other treasures are not secret at all. They are available to all and sundry. Books about Runes are easy to find, from typographer’s guidebooks to academic research texts. The old lore is as close as any book of Norse myths or old Germanic folk tales. We have nothing secret. That is a great thing for us, because it frees us from engaging in the kind of intrigue one finds in organized religion, conventional Paganism and classic occultism.
Let us remain an open book. In openness there is honesty. That which is open minimizes the shadows in which falsehood thrives. With our treasure as a beacon and honesty as our reputation, we can rest assured that our work is true in spirit and in fact.
