Stepping to Opportunity

This is something I have noticed many times.

Opportunity comes from many directions. The trick is to be open to it. A casual thing can bear a great opportunity. In order to get it, you have to be there. It might be a gathering, a job fair or a community event. The potential is there only if you are there.

If the event is not a bringer of opportunity, it is still a good thing. You set things in motion just by making the effort to be there. Perhaps it will not be the day of your opportunity, or the next day, or the next. Perhaps it will. The point is that by taking steps in the direction of opportunity, you enter into the process. You put yourself in the flow of opportunity, and you will eventually meet it.

You start things in motion by making the first effort. That initial step makes you a participant rather than a speculator. By not making an effort, you guarantee failure. Remember that the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Opportunity comes to those who act. It may come sooner, it may come later, but your effort assures that opportunity will come.
