Win by Not Losing

There is a way of winning that can best be described as not losing. Does it sound silly? Believe it or not, it is genuine. One of the ways to victory and success is to not lose. Granted, there is more to it. Let me explain:

I have seen many people lose simply by giving up. They lose hope, lose initiative or lose the will to endure. Whatever the reason, they capitulate long before they would have been defeated. The result is that a situation which they should have won is turned to a self-imposed defeat.

Many a failure is caused by something other than an opponent’s victorious acts. They are caused by “caving in” long before there is any hint of defeat. Yesterday, we talked of morale. Here is where applied morale can save the day. It is the will to endure and the mind set to fend off discouragement. Morale is the burst of confidence and the assurance that there is always hope. Good morale says “I can!” It is by far greater than the losing attitude which says, “I ought not.”

Positive thinking is the mentality which meets opposition with the belief that there is some way to overcome it. It is not a contrived optimism. Genuine positive thinking is the attitude that a situation can be handled successfully. This is very different from the pop version of positive thinking. Rather than holding pleasant thoughts and hoping for the best, real positive thinking turns “I can” into action. Positive thinking seeks to create and apply solutions. It does not allow discouragement to overtake the situation. There is no giving up. Positive thinking has within it the will to endure and the desire to succeed.
