Heathen Time

One of the most foolish and wasteful concepts is something called PaganTime. It is nothing less than intentionally arriving late. If a meeting is called for Noon, Pagan Timers will drift in any time between 12:15 and 12:45.

Obviously, Pagan Time has a selfishness to it. “You have to wait until I deign to show.” Pagan Time is a vacuous, lazy, wafting kind of thing that diminishes the importance of anything it touches. Pagan Time is a fart that goes stale before it gets halfway across the room. Being deliberately late means that the event or meeting is not that important. It might not be stated that way consciously, but it sends a strong message of unimportance to the subconscious.

Do Heathens accept the same silly policy? NO! Heathens recognize the importance of time and the necessity to get there in a timely fashion. That does not mean “on time.” It certainly does not mean Pagan Time. Heathen Time means getting there early. Just as the early bird catches the worm, so Heathen Time gets there before opportunity leaves. The Heathen gets there before they run out of seats. The Pagan Timer has to stand against the back wall while his Heathen counterparts sit in the front row.

Heathen Time give you plenty of time. Get there early. Get the good seats, get the best service, get the goods before they are sold out. The early bird catches the worm and has extra time to catch a dozen more.

Think of it this way:

If you show up on time, you are at least ten minutes late by Heathen Time.

Get there early and get it all! Let the Pagan Time people pick up the crumbs. Anyone who buys into the Pagan Time nonsense deserves dregs and scraps. Show that you care and show that you mean business. Get there while the getting is at its best!

Say it loud, say it proud: “Make mine Heathen Time!”

I can so relate to this post! I had never heard of “Indian time” until I moved between two indian res. It is SO much worse than pagan time. I hate to be late, no matter what. It is about respect to my host or other I am visiting or dealing with. I really get mad at the wife when she dont move or plan so we are at least a few minutes early to whatever function she told me I needed to attend with her! I didnt want to go, but do for her, and then being late on top of it just chaps pal! But Indian time is much worse. Case in point. One indian pal of mine gave another a buffalo skin to tan, that was three years ago, the hide is still good, and neither is in a hurry. It would drive me nuts! Very good post and I look forward to reading more and maybe trying to contribute to your page!
