Filled with Something Good

What makes a hand-made thing special is the maker. Though he may not realize it, the craftsman infuses a bit of himself into his work. People who make things by hand tend to find joy and satisfaction in their work. This is some of what they give it.
Material things can absorb emotional and etheric energy. Places associated with miserable people tend to take on a dismal feeling, just as places of joy are bright and pleasant. Objects can also absorb some of the imprint of their owners. While most people are consciously unaware that matter can absorb emotion, they often sense it on another level. This is why people like keepsakes of loved ones. It is also the reason some people try to obtain items owned or used by historical figures and others they admire.

By the simple act of making a thing by hand, you pour some of your joy and creativity and satisfaction into it. The craftsman who most loves his art is the one whose works are most attractive. The reason we prize hand-made goods is something we may not even consciously recognize. They come pre-loaded with a little spark of happiness.

Part of the craftsman’s work is packing his handicrafts with the same joy we find in the Wunjo Rune.
