Ase Rune Exercise

This week, we look at the Ase Rune. It is a Rune of Good, of the Gods, and of Inspiration. Try these exercises:

Exercise 1: Make a point of enjoying something good. It can be anything: a good meal, a good movie, a pleasurable activity, etc. Make it something that is more enjoyable than an everyday thing. Go out of your way a little. The point is to experience better than average good, so that it is more appreciable. Think of why it is good, and savor it. This is an excellent way to consciously experience the Ase Rune.

Exercise 2: Think of three songs that move you. You want songs that evoke feelings, especially the type that inspire and feel good. Listen to them and enjoy them. Note how they make you feel. This is the quality of Ase as both Good and as Inspiration.

Exercise 3: Think of a book or movie or story that inspires you. What makes them so? Is it the characters? The action? The setting? Circumstances? Think deeply on why they inspire you. Ponder the feelings they evoke in you. Focus especially on that which feels better, grander and more sublime. As well as inspiration as an abstract concept, you are learning to perceive it as a good you can experience.

Please note that I never have, and never will use the contrived “proto-Germanic” words for the Runes. I use the words that I have used for many years.
