Disobeying Orders
Heathens are not the kind of folks who like to take orders. That is refreshing in these days. There are many out there who want to tell us what to do. They tell us which brand of car to buy, which juice to drink, and which medications to use. These same sources tell us what constitutes attractiveness, why baldness is bad and which things will make a person more appealing. They are marketers and they call it “advertising.” Actually, they are trying to tell us what to do and what to want.
Advertisers know that many people want to be told what to want and what to own. The people do not think of these things. They are content to let someone else make decisions for them. Those of us with a more independent mentality resist such suggestions. We are the bane of advertisers.
Our independence contributes to our well being. The above example is one way in which we benefit. By refusing to blindly accept the suggestions of marketers, we are better able to focus on the things that are really important. That puts us ahead of the crowd.
