Yews and Cars

One of the more perplexing Runes is Ihr, the Yew Tree. Back around Yule, I had been pulling Runes. The Yew Tree came up. Later that day, our car was out of action due to a mechanical problem. A couple of weeks later, The Yew Tree Rune came up again. The car broke down the next day. Audrey barely got it to the mechanic.

Does the Yew Tree’s interpretation include car trouble?

Audrey had to go to the hospital for something minor. I had pulled Runes to see what would happen. In the middle was the Yew tree. All in all, the reading boded well. That Yew Tree was perplexing. It seemed out of place.

We had called the taxi service when we were done at the hospital. A car arrived quickly, and it was picking up an extra fare. That was a problem for us. Audrey needed extra room to sit because of the procedure. At that moment, the car overheated. The driver opened the hood and up came a cloud of steam. He called another car for us.

It took a minute or two for the driver to get the steam under control. He poured in fluid and was ready to go with the other fare. We told him we would wait for the other car. He left. The other car arrived in less than five minutes.

On the way, the driver had his two-way radio on. We could hear the chatter. Sure enough, the first car was stopped again with radiator trouble.

I am convinced that among its other meanings, the Yew Tree can warn of car trouble. Today’s incident was the proverbial “icing on the cake.”
