Our World

Conventional religion sees this world as separate from its heaven. They see earthly life as a sort of test that determines if they will be allowed into a blissful afterlife. To heathens this world is as spiritual as any other. The same will hold true in the so-called “afterlife.” (It is actually a continuation of our this life in another realm.) Life here is to be lived. It is not a test. This is a good world that we should enjoy.

A large part of enjoying life is the appreciation of beauty and the work to bring more of it into the world. We appreciate the things of this earth. Even in these times of cyberspace and virtual reality, Heathens prefer the real world to the computerized version. So it is that many of us are involved in various arts, crafts and pastimes. Many of our people enjoy cooking and baking. Others do needlework or sewing, and still others are gardeners and woodworkers. We count among our folk blacksmiths, tinsmiths, homecasters and toymakers. Many Heathens have a penchant for art, be it music, painting or sculpting Making things beautiful is an expression of our appreciation of the world in which we live.

Many Heathens enjoy the outdoors and participate in hiking, camping and boating. There are all kinds of fisherman and hunters. Because we recognize the spiritual within this world, we love spending time with it.

Our appreciation of wonderful things in our world manifests in our many activities, all of which depend on our own skills. We appreciate the love and care that go into hand made things. In this age of industrial manufacture, we still find time for things done by hand. It is part of our appreciation of the wonderful world in which we abide.
