Cohesive Victory

Victory goes to those who work together for a greater goal. History shows that cohesion and purpose make an impressive difference. One of the greatest examples is Japan’s war against China during the 20th Century. The contrast between Chinese and Japanese forces was extreme. The Chinese government was a loose confederation of politicians and warlords. At its head was Chiang Kai Shek, one of the most corrupt scoundrels ever to lead a government. The politicians and warlords were each out for their own interests. Cohesion was minimal.

Opposing this patchwork collection of disparate elements were the forces of Imperial Japan. The Japanese were led by a single government. There were no warlords. All of the chief people were part of the same government. The Japanese were united in a single goal which they accepted with fanatical tenacity. Japan was an exemplar of cohesion and national unity. The desires of self were subjugated to the greater good of the Empire.

Heavily outnumbered, the Japanese were victorious time after time. Their ability to work together gave them a tremendous advantage. It was redoubled against an enemy who lacked any sense of unity. The key areas of China were soon under Japanese control.

The same Japanese were defeated when faced with American cohesion and unity.

A concerted effort is far more successful that a piecemeal one. A sense of purpose is more compelling than idle self-interest. Unity succeeds better than a scattered endeavor. It is wisely said that “United we stand, divided we fall.”

Consider this carefully, for within it is the means for a small group to stand taller than a larger one.
